2022 Chevy Traverse Hybrid, Review, Colors, and Release Date

2022 Chevy Traverse Hybrid, Review, Colors, and Release Date. It is expected that the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse will be an almost unchanged version of the last year model. There are a lot of reasons that prove it. Do not forget that the last version was the 2022 model when this car has undergone significant changes in design and equipment. Most likely new, the third, generation the manufacturer releases as 2025 model.

As much we know, for now, there should not be changes and differences this time. However, there are loud rumors that we should expect small changes in engine models. According to the official site, the manufacturer could replace the current engine with a smaller but more efficient one.

After the start of the new generation in 2022, Traverse crossover didn’t introduce major changes. New 2020 model will discount one of the engine options on its RS variant. Now, the 2022 Chevy Traverse will finally introduce visual changes. We are not talking about redesign but still, the exterior will finally get a refreshment.

Thanks to the newest spy shots most of the upgrades are visible. Of course, mechanical changes are possible but there are no details about this outcome. The full-size crossover will continue to offer a four-door variant with three-rows of seats. The interior will most likely suffer a couple of refinements.

2022 Traverse Spy Shots

New spy photos are available and we can see a heavy camouflage on the prototype. Some parts are perfectly hidden. However, most of the refreshments are visible. The 2022 Chevy Traverse will get a couple of visual refreshments. As a result, Traverse will arrive with the design closer to the rest of the Chevrolet’s lineup of crossovers. The front fascia will suffer a lot. The goal is to mimic the design of the new Chevrolet Blazer model.

Basically, all of the new company’s crossovers will follow the same path. That includes a new Trailblazer and Equinox model. Traverse is another model that will get the same look of the front part. A two-tiered lighting system looks striking and LED lighting signatures are thinner now. New fog lights are placed higher this time. In the back, new taillights are available. The side profile will largely remain and we still don’t know if Chevy will introduce new optional exterior features.

Engine

There are interesting rumors about the engines that will be offered as optional in new 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. The old version of 3.6-liter V6 turbocharged could be replaced with a 2.0-liter four-in-line model, but this time also turbocharged one. The 3.6-liter V6 remains only as a naturally-aspired option, with the strength of 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque.

When it comes to the 2.0-liter four-in-line option it should have the strength of 257 horsepower and 296 pound-feet of torque. It is much stronger than before but slightly weaker than larger engines. Both should come paired with nine-speed automatic transmission. For the manufacturer, this is a probe for a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that could replace existed models in the whole line of the cars, including GMC Acadia and Cadillac XT5.

Performance, Fuel Economy, Transmission

We can’t predict mechanical changes for the upcoming 2022 Chevy Traverse. It is a possibility, but there is no confirmation about this topic. For that reason, a new full-size crossover will most likely arrive with the same engine lineup. That includes two powertrain options. 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline produces 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.

This engine is standard, it comes with a turbocharger and it will use the same 9-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is rated at 23 mpg combined. Traverse’s optional 3.6-liter V6 is good for 310 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. This engine is also using the same 9-speed gearbox and it comes with an optional AWD system. While it produces more power, optional V6 delivers 21 mpg combined.

Exterior

Besides the obvious changes in details and shape of the chassis, 2022 Chevrolet Traverse actually does not bring any novelty this time. The model should be more rounded with softener edges, most in order to be different from the other aggressive models in the class. The platform is the same as before, so the size of the model is the same.

Just because of changes in design, it looks maybe a little smaller, with rounded edges and a short front end. The rear end remains the same shape, with longer roof and high trunk door so both create a cube. Something like Toyota Highlander. The manufacturer, however, aims to be closer to Honda Pilot.

Interior

There are no announced differences in the design of the cabin, as well as in new equipment. We are sure that there will be upgrades, so the model becomes competitive even with the models made in the same factory. The size is as before three-row shaped, with a lot of space for the passengers in second and the third row and additional equipment for the children.

We believe the interior will also get a couple of changes. The 2022 Chevy Traverse will once again offer plenty of trim levels. Interior layout will remain which means a three-row eight-seat configuration is still present. Chevrolet will surely deliver numerous updates for Traverse’s tech department. That, we’ll have to wait and see potential design upgrades. Some reports are suggesting a redesigned dashboard and different steering wheel.

Whatsoever, the cabin will provide the same level of comfort as before. Seats are very supportive and full-size crossover offers generous interior room. Cargo area is rated at 98 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. A 7-inch touchscreen remains a standard option on the base model. Moreover, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available once again. Upper trim levels are offering standard leather upholstery, premium sound system, three-zone climate control and much more.

2022 Chevrolet Traverse Release Date and Price

Whatever happens with the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse, it will not be significantly different from the current model, so do not worry, it will look like and drive as before. The manufacturer will increase the “premium” models in years to come, so it looks like different from the younger brother Chevrolet Blazer.

It will surely affect the price that should be $35,000 or more this time. Since this could be a mild-cycle refreshment for the model, expect differences in color pallet and details, along with additions in the cabin.
